Good morning, Meadow Ed,

A couple of years ago a young woman on the PCT west of Mt. Hood perished
attempting to ford the Sandy River while it was in flood. This crossing is
just south of Ramona Falls near Mile 2115. She was found downstream with
her pack on her back and its straps and hip belt in place and snug.

Also, a couple of years ago, a day-hiker perished due to a fall from Three
Fingered Jack. This is a peak about 500 yds. east of the PCT at Mile 2012,
between Mt. Jefferson and Rt. 20 at Santiam Pass.
