Okay outdoors people - 

Where can you stand on earth and be closts to the sun?
The answer which pops into most of our minds is,
"Everest." And if that were true, I wouldn't be
writing this off-topic message.

It's Mount Chimborazo in Ecuador, and because of the
equatorial bulge (more than a mile!), it's further
from the center of the earth than Everest. BUT it is
not as high above sea level.
