Glenn,
You don't need llamas, what you need is to suck it up.
I once did a 4 day hike in the Grand Canyon in 90-100 degrees without water
after about noon of the first day.  Started out with 12 liters, almost tore
my shoulders out.
You know your limitations, but many times those limitations are just mind
over matter.

TRY HIKING AT NIGHT AND SLEEPING DURING THE DAY IN THE DESERT......YOU
CONSERVE ENERGY AND WATER AND MAY EXPAND YOUR LIMITATION.
