Thank you for the clarification and information regarding canisters. I
am just getting started on research for the PCT and was not clear on
the requirements. (I can tell you about bears and wolves in Romania,
Bulgaria and Croatia [they generally avoid contact with people], but I
don't know the Sierras well).

Glad to hear that the canisters can be rented from ranger stations.
