To all,

Many, many thanks for the ideas. Each has merit and I
will try many of them. I had not thought of the warm
meal/hypothermia connection and have re-thought a bit.
Even if I did go cookless, I could carry a small pot
and a couple of Esbit tablets. 

I look forward to experimenting with these menus.
