We still have hikers coming through Skykomish (October 29th, 2006) and they are having a real hard time trying to find the trail in the snow north of here. You all that are planning your trips for upcoming years really need to schedule your hike so you are at Manning Park by October 15th each year. Most years the rain and snow are very heavy between Steven's Pass and the northern border. Both the original trail and the reroute have proved very difficult in the last couple of weeks. You may be tough and experienced but the weather is very unpredictable in northern Washington. It's not worth your life.
