[pct-l] Missing man near Mojave Dam on PCT

Appently Jack was found about 1.5  mile south of the Mojave Dam on the South side of the PCT.  He apparently tried to hike off the trail down to some pools in Deep Creek and got hung up on a manzanita bush.  He has passed many days prior.  Condolences to his family and thanks to all the volunteers with SAR.

Search for missing man continues L.A. County resident went to Hesperia Lake to fish; his car was found on Lake Arrowhead Road

HESPERIA — Sherif f's deputies and members of search and rescue teams spent a third day Monday looking for a missing man who never returned from a fishing trip to Hesperia Lake on Oct. 7.

Twelve people were on the g round searching for Jack Limon, 55, of Montebello and a helicopter from the San Bernardino County

Sheriff's Department searched the area Saturday and Monday, according to Sgt. Lon Jacobs of the Victor Valley station. On Saturday, deputies used a helicopter equipped with an infrared sensing device to search for Limon in the in the cool of the evening. But the failed to turn up anything.

Two search dogs brought in from Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday did not turn up any leads. Limon's two brothers hiked the area searching for him over the weekend, Lopez said, along with members of search and rescue teams from Victor Valley, Twin Peaks, Wrightwood and Barstow.

Limon visited the High Desert frequently and was always intrigued by a path near Silverwood Lake, according to his girlfriend, Myra Lopez.

"We've stopped there and he showed it to me," said Lopez. "I think he wanted to see where it went and possibly he's lost."

"I think he knows enough to know what to do to sustain life," she added. "But I don't know. I'm sure he's tired and exhausted and I don't know if he's hurt."

Limon did not appear to have planned a camping trip since he left his sleeping bag and heavy jacket at home, she said.

Lope z described Limon, who works for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, as a Hispanic male about 5-foot 8-inches tall, with brown eyes and dark brown hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Limon set out from Lopez' home for Hesperia Lake early on the morning of Oct. 7 and left a note for her saying he would return "late," which she interpreted as late that evening or early the next morning. Lopez and one of Limon's cousins drove up to Silverwood Lake to look for him Oct. 9, and found his car parked on Lake Arrowhead Road.

Limon's credit card and wallet were in the car, but his cellular phone was not, Jacobs said. No calls had been made on the phone since Oct. 7.

"His family is desperate to hear from him or anyone who knows his whereabouts," Jacobs said. "Many people fall victim to being lost in this Deep Creek spillway area, but most of them are located unharmed," Jacobs said.
