The 90 ft bridge I heard was fixed - even though I have not seen it myself.

I'm a regular lurker on the pct-l. My sweetie of 37 years, No Way Ray,
would appreciate all the thoughts the pct-l has been having about a memorial.
Given the rotten rock conditions along Deep Creek, a plaque might be
problematic.

A good idea lately is what about repairing the 90-ft bridge over Deep Creek
(mile 297). Don't know what it would take. Who could help look into it?

No Way Ray left us something very special that will let us remember him
well. You may remember some of his essays in the Communicator. Well, there are
about 20 of these essays all together, book length. Plus 4 years of quality
PCT photographs. This winter, while getting ready to try again next year, I
will be working on finding a publisher for Ray's book. Here's where you
might be able to help right away.

1) Which mainstream publishers would be most interested in such a book?

2) Who among us can introduce me to such a publisher?

Ray's working title for the book is "A Thru-Hiker's Heart." He was a
teacher, so trust that the grammar and spelling will be comfortable. Trust also
that his skill with words will take you back to the vivid moment of finding a
mountain lion print next to your tent in the morning, or appreciating a
townie's envy of your hiking freedom.

As for me, my memorial is every morning when the first Ray of light breaks
above the Sierra skyline out my window. His spirit is still where it walked
his whole life.

Thanks again to all the wonderful hikers and angels who have helped me
through these tough times. Last week, Gottago and I summited Mt. San Jacinto in a
howling fog storm. Each pass and each summit, shout out for No Way Ray.

See ya down the trail.
Alice Tulloch
