Another winner! Looks like I'll be serving up pancakes at the kickoff. :)
An anonymous writer let me know I may have been duped. Seems funnybone has integrated a word-of-the-day email into certain posts on his TrailJournals site, so while I still think the guy writes well, I apologize for any comments I made to his detractors suggesting they might be vocabularily-impaired (for the record, I think I just made up that last term).

Subject: OT: [pct-l] clarification
My definitions:
> tetchy
One who promotes the restoration of Hetch Hetchy using technology.
> aesthete
An athlete who falls on his rear end a lot.
> timorous
A choice made when running out of food (contraction of "Tim or us" from the
1970's song that included the lines "Trapped in a mine that just caved in
and everyone knows that the only ones left are Joe, and me, and Tim.
When they broke thru to pull us free well the only ones left to tell the
tale were Joe....and me.")
> gainsay
Bragging about something one did not do in order to reap hospitality in
town.
> jeremiad
Something that used to be long to Jeremy (derived from "Jer'my had").
> repine
What is done to the forest along the trail after logging is completed.
> genuflect
What one does when entering a church. (Sorry, I actually know this one, and
practice it.)
