Here is a reply I received from the Stehekin Lodge. It's pretty wellself-explanatory. Looks like we might be in trouble next year for the hikers.

Dear Andrea and all the PCT Trail Angels--- 
Hello and Thank you for your interest in the North Cascades Stehekin Lodge! We are located at the head of Lake Chelan, at the base of the Cascade Mountains in central Washington. The Lodge is accessible only by ferry-boat and floatplane, because there are no roads to/from Stehekin. We do offer various tours, and rental equipment, such as bikes. The Restaurant is open periodically during this  month so be sure to call and ask the agent, what meal-service, if any is available for the dates that you are interested! The General Store is open only limited number of hours, mostly around the noon hours.

Bad news on the Shuttle---They quit running the Shuttle on Oct.7th just like the Stehekin Guidebook has published!!  We were hoping for a bit of an extension too!!  

Better news on the bakery, as they will be open a few more days...I was told this Thurs., Fri. Sat, and Sunday, Oct 15th is going to be their last day for this season. 

Now for the really bad news: Here's the long story, short: 

The Lodge is owned by the National Park Service and we are currently under Contract as their Concessionaire through Dec 31st, 2006. After Jan. 1st, 2007,  We are not able to give out quotes on rooms or rates, because we are not going to re-new our contract. I am happy to take folk's names and a phone numbers and have the next Concessionaire contact them after Jan. 1st of 2007.  So that being said, we have not heard if the contract has gone out for bid yet, or not---So the Lodge could very well be closed for a period this Winter, as it was many years ago, before we came on the scene.   Hi there. We are the PCT trail angels in Skykomish and we are still routing hikers to Stehekin. We would like to know if the bus is still running and is the bakery still open. We are guessing that the Lodge is open year round ??
