There was what hikers called a blizzard at the top on June 28 this year. The next day when I summited, it was cool but windy. On a previous summit mid-July, it was cold and windy at the top. Be prepared for any type of weather, even in the summer months, with the exceptions of sub-zero or 100+. Thunderstorms are common.

People die from hypothermia most often when people are dressed for warm weather and the temps drop to 50 degrees or below.

I have been reading about it in books I've bought but I can't tell what the temperature will be like around Mt. Whitney. I plan on getting to california in mid may so I will prolly arrive at Whitney in early June if I get good 20 mile days in.
