[pct-l] Fires, water and heat status starting at Interstate 10, section C heading north on PCT Friday, 7/14/06?

Any suggestions, thoughts or ideas about status of fires and dealing with 
the heat and the availability of water.
1. I understand there is a fire North East of the trail.
2. From Interstate 10 North where is the first available likely water now? 
I'll be carrying about 6 quarts.
3. For the heat I am considering salt water and shade. But I understand 
problems can start happening at 102 degrees.
Any thoughts?
