[pct-l] Bears on the trail

I'm new to the list but not to trekking in bear country. Not being careful
or prepared for what could happen seems foolish to me.  If all one
experiences is a ripped pack and/or tent, and loss of food, it makes for
greatly impressive conversation about that experience.  But, the "possible"
maximum negative impact by even a curious bear, not to mention a hungry
one, is a terrible thing to contemplate.  Why risk it?  I recommend
cannisters, not sacks for the Sierra.
