[pct-l] safety on the trail

with the most minimal exception, the pct is almost totally safe if your concern is problems from a person.

no you are not crazy. i do wear my wedding ring on the trail when alone (almost all the time)...probably doesn't accomplish much other than having a false sense of safety, but whatever works for you. i also have started hiking w/my dog when/where possible. that  truly is the one thing that all but totally protects you from anyone you do not want near you.

most importantly...go hiking, alone or not. as a fellow woman hiker once told me: if the only alternative to hiking alone is to stay home - go hiking.
