HALLELUJAH !
Finally, someone's on the right track.
Pass this on to the National Park Service - especially Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia NPs.

The days of controlling people because we can't (or refuse to) control the animals may be finally coming to a close. Can't happen soon enough. I'll be emailing in support of it.

I know on this forum we straddle both sides of environmental issues.
This is a very significant change being proposed and affects many
sections of the PCT. See the Great Old Broads website for details
  http://www.greatoldbroads.org/PredatorControlAlert.html . Some of the
  proposals:
  * allowing the use of poisons including cyanide M-44 devices in wilderness
  * allowing aircraft landings and use of motor vehicles for predator
  control in wilderness
  * killing local predator populations instead of targeting only
  offending individual(s)
  * allowing predator control as a tool for achieving game management purposes

Should reduce the need for bear cannisters!
